Front & Center
Get a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a musical theater professional in this exclusive master class series. Now in its fourth season, audiences have a chance to watch acclaimed theater veterans as they coach emerging artists on skills that are vital on and off the stage. Previous Front & Center master classes have been led by Stephanie J. Block, Victoria Clark, Gavin Creel, Tom Kitt, Kathleen Marshall Kelli O’Hara, Lea Salonga, Bartlett Sher, and Jeanine Tesori. This season will feature classes led by Annaleigh Ashford, Alex Brightman, and Ali Stroker. with a third master class to be announced. Professional Development Workshops
City Center offers a wide array of professional development workshops each year for classroom teachers, teaching artists, college and graduate school students. During these workshops, participants take a master class with a professional artist specializing in the discipline being studied. They also workshop techniques to utilize artistic tools in the classroom and collaborate to build exciting new lesson plans.

Fall for Dance Lab
This daylong professional development session for dance educators includes two master classes led by performers from City Center’s acclaimed Fall for Dance Festival. During these classes, they learn about each company’s unique aesthetic by studying pieces of repertoire performed at Fall for Dance. Recent Fall for Dance Labs have been led by members of Caleb Teicher & Company, Rennie Harris Puremovement, Trisha Brown Dance Company, Abraham.In.Motion, Jessica Lang Dance Company, STREB, Stephen Petronio Company and doug elkins choreography, etc. Following the master classes, participants take a workshop that investigates approaches to teaching dance, critical and creative responses to different dance styles and genres, and applications to classroom practice. The workshop is taught collaboratively by a dance instructor from New York City’s Department of Education and a City Center Teaching Artist. All participants receive a ticket to one Fall for Dance performance.
Cost: $20 per participant
